  1. Pictures or idols of the deities should be placed in North-East direction. along with deities, picture of a dead person should not be kept aside. Similarly placement area for the picture of dead person of the family is south of the house. In this direction pictures or idols of the deities should not be affixed. The south direction is of the Pitras. To get their blessings lit an oil flame in this direction in the evening. While worshiping you should face North or East.
     
  2. If North portion of a plot of land is kept vacant and construction is done in the south direction of the plot, the owner will become rich gradually. Such house proves auspicious for the children. Houses facing North are best for the Artists. Artists earn very good bread through these houses. They get lot of work. East facing houses are good for intellectuals like writers, management people, engineers, doctors, advocates and astrologers. Their fame increases day and night through these houses.
     
  3. A tulsi plant should be kept in the North East corner of the house. Shaligram should be there in the tulsi pot. There should not be more than two Shaligram’s in a house. Similarly there should not be two idols of Ganeshji. The place of worship in a house should only be in the North East corner. An idol of Ganeshji at the main door known as Dwar Ganpati brings good luck. You should not have thorny trees or plants in your house. Flowering plants are considered auspicisous. Amla plant in the North East, Tamarind in the South West and Pomegranate tree in the South East is considered auspicious.
     
  4. The number of stairs in a house should be in odd numbers, but at the same time should not be divisible by three. For Example 15 is the odd number but is divisible by three, so 15 is not the auspicious number for the stairs. The number of total doors and windows in a house should be even number. Old material or wood should not be used in the new building or for new furniture. These days ship furniture is being used, it is not auspicious.
