Sargi is food had before dawn on the day of Karva Chauth. This special meal is prepared by the mother-in-law and includes sweets and other delicious delicacies. The daughter-in-law is also showered with various gifts such as jewelry and saree.

The First Baya...

Baya is the gift given to a daughter’s mother-in-law on the occasion of Karva Chauth. The conventional package includes salted mathris, dry fruits, saris and utensils. The utensils are distributed amongst women who join the newly-wed on her first Karva Chauth Puja.

The First Puja...

The puja happens in the evening. The new bride gets dressed in heavy traditional wear and accessories. She takes blessings from the elder women in the family distribute the baya gifts to the women who are present in the puja.
