Divine significance of Vishwakarma Puja

Vishwakarma is one of the better-known gods who is considered the divine architect among the Hindu pantheon. Vishwakarma Puja falls on Kanya Sankranti every year. The Puja is also celebrated on the day after Diwali, which means it falls on October or November.

The day is celebrated usually in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand in the north, Karnataka in the south and Assam, West Bengal Odisha and Tripura.

Hinduism also attributes Vishwakarma to Brahma. According to legends, the story of the universe being born out of Vishwakarma’s navel mirrors the story of Brahma giving birth to the universe.

According to another legend, Vishwakarma is believed to born out of Samudra Manthan.

It was in the puranas that mentioned Vishwakarma as the divine architect. He was the architect of Heaven (Swarga), and Lanka the City of Gold. He also constructed Lord Krishna’s Dwarka and Maya Sabha of the Pandavas.

Vishwakarma is worshipped by artisans, architects and engineers as the presiding deity of their trade and craft across the nation. He is also worshipped by mechanics, welders and other craftsmen for prosperity in their business.
